An Israeli army spokesman refuses to confirm the German Foreign Minister’s claims about alleged Hamas rape videos

An Israeli army spokesman declined to confirm Sunday’s claims by the German foreign minister that she had seen footage shot by a Hamas member of an Israeli woman raped on October 7, 2023.

When asked by an Anadolu reporter whether such footage exists and, if so, why it has not been made public so far, Avichay Adraee said: “I cannot comment on this matter, I am not able to confirm or deny what the German Foreign Minister said. “

Referring to the report by UN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict Pramila Patten, prepared following an investigation conducted in Israel and the occupied West Bank, Adraee said: “However, due to the confidentiality of the situation, I cannot provide an official comment on this matter (Baerbock’s request comments ).

“Like I said, I can’t comment on it, so I neither confirm nor deny it.”

He argued that officials, policymakers, journalists, influencers and activists had been shown footage on the subject, and stated: “Whether the German foreign minister said it or not, I am not the person to comment on it.”

Israel has killed more than 36,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip since a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7 last year.

The military campaign has reduced much of the enclave of 2.3 million people to ruins, leaving most civilians homeless and at risk of starvation.

Israel is accused of genocide before the International Court of Justice, which ordered it to ensure that its forces do not commit acts of genocide and to take measures to guarantee humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza.
