Second woman raped on a bus in Rio de Janeiro

A woman was raped on a bus in Rio de Janeiro just weeks after a tourist suffered sexual violence while traveling in a minibus in the Brazilian city.

According to the BBC, the police are looking for an armed man who molested a woman on a moving bus for about 30 minutes and then fled.

On Friday evening, a man also robbed bus passengers in the poor suburb of Favela do Muquico.

The attack shocked the country and raised security concerns for the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics.

CNN reports that in the latest incident, a man forced passengers to the front of the bus, robbed them, and then raped and pistol-whipped a woman.

Passengers told police he was probably under the influence of drugs.

In late March, an American tourist was raped and robbed in a minibus as he crossed the long bridge over Guanabara Bay. The woman was with her boyfriend, who was handcuffed and beaten during the rape.
