State Police Investigating Fatal Crash at Dover Residence – Delaware State Police

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred this morning in Dover.

On May 28, 2024, at approximately 2:42 a.m., a Honda Accord was traveling westbound on Forrest Avenue, east of Artic Drive, at an apparent high rate of speed. As the vehicle was negotiating a curve in the road, it lost control and drove off the southern edge of the road. It struck a mailbox before crashing into a residence on Forrest Avenue. The vehicle stopped inside the residence. The driver fled the scene and has not yet been identified.

As a result of the accident, a 56-year-old resident of the house suffered serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital, where she died. Her name is being withheld pending family notification.

The road was closed for approximately three hours while investigators processed the scene and cleared the roadway.
