One person is dead in a homicide investigation in Middlesex County

Police say they are investigating a homicide after a person was found dead in a Middlesex Center apartment.

On May 27 at 9 a.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were dispatched to an address on Carriage Road for a report of a sudden death.

The identity of the deceased is not known yet.

As a result of the investigation, Nicholas Russell-Ewanation, a 28-year-old resident of Middlesex Center, is charged with second-degree murder.

The defendant remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

There is no threat to public safety.

Residents can expect an increased police presence.

The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Middlesex County OPP Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Service under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigations Branch, in cooperation with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
