30-year-old man arrested after brandishing a knife in Dublin as local opens up on ‘rumours’ and cops confirm there are no injuries

A MAN has been arrested after he was spotted brandishing a knife in Dublin city center.

In the first incident, the alarm was raised after a suspect with a gun was spotted in the capital’s Parnell Square on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred close to where a young girl was allegedly attacked last November.

He then left the area and went to Gardiner Street.

It is known that on the spot he also started brandishing a knife.

However, he was arrested just minutes after arriving at Gardiner Street, after gardaí received the first call.

Despite some claims on social media, no children were threatened during the incident.

The suspect also did not make any threats against anyone from the public.

We understand that this issue is also related to mental health.

One local woman told us: “There were many rumors about a man threatening children.

“People were afraid that someone might have been walking around with a knife.

“Thankfully, the man was arrested within minutes.”

Gardaí have confirmed that an Irish man in his 30s has been arrested for alleged offenses under the Firearms and Crimes Act.

He is currently being questioned by detectives at a Garda station in Dublin.

A Garda spokesman: “No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.

“An Garda Siochana have been regularly patrolling the area and these will continue.

“Gardai are working with the local community and all those affected by the incident.”
