Roads closed in Kirkby after ‘serious incident’

Police closed multiple roads in Kirkby after a man was found seriously injured.

Merseyside Police were called to the junction of East Lancashire Road and Moorgate Road at 4.50pm today, May 28, to reports of a serious incident. When the officers arrived at the scene, they found that the man had suffered serious injuries.

Emergency services arrived at the scene and the man was taken to hospital. We are investigating what happened to the man and how he was injured.

The roads are closed while emergency services remove the effects of the incident. Merseyside Police has asked drivers to avoid the area and find an alternative route following the incident.

Merseyside Police has issued an appeal following a “serious incident”. Police are appealing for witnesses and CCTV or dashcam footage that may have captured the incident or a pedestrian walking on Moorgate Road. He is a white male in his 50s, wearing blue jeans and a light-colored top.

Sergeant Phil Everett, from the Roads Policing Unit, said: “My colleagues and I at the Police Criminal Investigation Unit have now launched an investigation into the incident and would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV or dashcam footage to contact us.
