A jailed predator from south London who raped a defenseless teenager in the 1990s

A south London rapist who molested a teenager in the 1990s has been sentenced to prison almost three decades later.

At the end of the trial at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday, Colin Moore (57) was found guilty of four rapes and five indecent assaults.

The court heard how Moore, of Grove Lane, Camberwell, abused the girl for more than four years in west and central London.

When Moore’s crimes began in 1995, the victim was less than 16 years old.

In 2020, the victim, now an adult, came forward to report the abuse she suffered at the hands of Moore, which led to his arrest and charges.

Met Sergeant Laura Harcombe said: “Colin Moore is a sexual predator who manipulated and exploited a vulnerable young girl he knew.

“Even during questioning, he attempted to present his behavior as acceptable on numerous occasions, which could not be further from the truth.

“This woman showed great courage in coming forward and reporting to police the abuse she had suffered over an extended period of time.

“We have specially trained officers who have supported her throughout the process and I can only hope that Moore’s conviction will give her some closure.”

Moore was remanded in custody pending sentencing by the same court on September 9, 2024.
