Jeronimo A. Duran, 33, was arrested and taken to the Broward County Jail. He faces charges of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse.

Police did not determine Duran’s relationship to the child, although neighbors identified him as the child’s father.

Court documents show that Duran was involved in a custody dispute with his child’s mother, during which the father admitted to having mental problems.

Last year, the mother responded to Duran’s petition for custody, which stated: “The father suffers from mental illness, including paranoia and anger issues (punching the wall). He also suffers from anxiety and has been Baker Acting at least five times. “

It was further stated that “his behavior is erratic, aggressive, violent and dangerous to the mother and the minor child.” Duran was also found to be suicidal and had stopped taking his medication.

In another documentary, Duran admitted that he had mental problems.

In March, the parents reached a settlement approved by a judge.

Duran is being held without bond.
