Cammy Devlin puts Hearts fans on transfer alert by telling former star ‘see you soon’

Cammy Devlin alerted Hearts fans when he began teasing the possible return of Stephen Humphrys.

Humphrys, 26, is a free agent after being released at the end of the season from Wigan Athletic – despite scoring 11 goals in 46 games for Shaun Maloney’s side, who finished 12th in EFL League One. Humphrys spent last season on loan at Tynecastle and sealed his place in Jambos folklore by scoring a spectacular goal from his own half in a 3-1 win over Dundee United.

In total, he scored only five goals for the Jam Tarts, but missed part of the campaign due to injury. Humphrys, still highly respected by Gorgie supporters, also remains close friends with some of Steven Naismith’s squad, including Australian midfielder Devlin.

The pair were photographed together last night as Humphrys posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Good to see my boy @cammy_devlin.” Devlin caught the attention of Hearts fans by replying: “See you soon bro” with a heart emoji and a handshake.

The post was quickly picked up by Jambos fans who believe Devlin could herald the return of the former Fulham, Southend United and Rochdale striker.

One player wrote: “You know what to do, Agent Devlin…bring our boy home ASAP! I don’t mean pressure @cammy_devlin but the whole of Tynecastle is now expecting you to give us Humps back!!!”

This excited fan exclaimed, “AND HE’S 29 YEARS OLD GORGI.” However, this skeptical fan wasn’t so convinced, adding: “Guys, everything’s fine – fair play.”
